Irish Greyhound Derby moved to November date
Irish St Leger & Laurels Moved Forward On New Look Calendar
The 2024 Classic and Features calendar has been released by Rásaíocht Con Éireann / Greyhound Racing Ireland with some notable changes to add to your diary ahead of what promises to be another exciting year.
The BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby has a new start date with the biggest competition of the year now commencing on the 18th of October with the final scheduled for the 23rd of November.
The Bar One Irish Laurels will now run at an earlier time with the opening round taking place on the 7th of September and the final on the 5th of October.
The willwego.com Irish St Leger will take place at a much earlier time with the start date on the 20th of July. The final will be run on the 17th of August.
Other notable competitions include the Irish Cesarewitch at Mullingar with that kicking off on the 2nd of March while the Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park will kick off on the 16th of March. The brilliant Con & Annie Kirby Memorial will commence on the 23rd of March.
Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for Greyhound Racing Ireland, said: “We are very excited about our calendar for 2024 and we can’t wait to see the biggest competitions of the year fit into their new slots. If 2023 was anything to go by then we are in for another tremendous year of greyhound racing.”
