Newtown singer’s Christmas song
NEWTOWN singer Catherine O’Keeffe has a new song, which was released worldwide on Friday last, November 24.
Her new song is a new original track called ‘Picture Postcard Christmas’ and it was launched simultaneously on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music, as well as Facebook and YouTube.
The new track was penned by Nenagh-based songwriter and novelist, Michael ‘Charlie’ McGee and the tune was produced and arranged by Owen Geaney, also of Nenagh town.
‘Picture Postcard Christmas’ is a fun piece about the idea it is a rare thing to witness a snowy Christmas scene, which is traditionally associated with the festive season. Charlie wrote the song a number of years ago and he has threatened to release the song each festive period since; however, he has finally decided now is the time, whether it snows, or not this year, over his hometown of Nenagh.
Charlie is thrilled that Catherine O’Keeffe is once more onboard to sing ‘Picture Postcard Christmas’, while Owen Geaney, again, has done a wonderful job in producing the final track.
The video for ‘Picture Postcard Christmas’ was filmed by Charlie at the Nenagh Castle gardens, and also at Catherine O’Keeffe’s parents' home at Newtown, just outside Nenagh town.
Several of Catherine’s young relations also appear in the fun video for the track: Catherine’s daughter Ciara, and two nieces, Lucy and Keeley Slattery. Additional footage used in the video are of scenes that Charlie recorded around the town of Nenagh during the snowy blast termed the ‘Beast from the East’ back in 2018.
Catherine O’Keeffe released her debut CD collection of cover tracks, called ‘Dreams Do Come True’, in 2021. Since then, ‘Charlie’ McGee has worked with Catherine, producing several popular music videos, which they have filmed at different scenic locations across North Tipperary.
‘Picture Postcard Christmas’ is the second track written by Charlie McGee, which has been released with Catherine O’Keeffe as the singer. ‘Fighting Back’ was released in August 2023 and through the promotional talents of Debra Dowler that song was aired as far afield as Nashville, as well across the UK. It is expected that Cat and Charlie will combine again in early 2024 with a third release of an original new song.
Catherine O’Keeffe (née Slattery) is married to Michael O’Keeffe and together they have three daughters. They live in Newtown and Catherine works as a carer for the HSE. Michael ‘Charlie’ McGee works as an Insurance Analyst and a Multimedia Artist for Lodge Service, and also his own company Charlie’s Multimedia.
