Santa visits Borrisokane

Borrisokane Christmas lights big switch on Saturday, December 2. Entertainment begins at 5pm with Santa bringing the excitement of Christmas to the children. An evening of surprises and enjoyment for everyone. All welcome.

Christmas market in Ballinderry

This year’s Christmas Market takes place on Sunday, December 3, from 2pm.

Come along and browse through over 30 stalls and treat yourself to a coffee or hot chocolate while you do so. This year, to accommodate The Little Angels Tractor Run going through the village, we are based in Stonepark Lodge Caravan Park. Look forward to seeing you there.

Santa in Killoran

Santa will complete his annual visit to meet the children of Portroe this Sunday, December 3, for what is always a hugely anticipated day out for the community and one that signals the start of the festive season.

Christmas party in Ballycommon

The annual Christmas party for the over 60s will take place at The Thatched Cottage, Ballycommon on this Saturday, December 2, at 12.30pm. This year we will once again be joining our friends from Portroe. There will be a donation of €15. All are welcome. You can confirm your attendance at 087 207 3220.

Come and hear all your Christmas favourites with Silvermines Folk Choir this Sunday, December 3, at 8pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Silvermines. Tickets - €15 - available from all choir members and local shops or at the door on the night. A night not to be missed!

Santa’s Coming to Burgess NS

A special visitor from the North Pole will be in Burgess NS on Sunday afternoon, December 17. There will be an array of entertainment and refreshments for everyone. Children are invited to register with his Elves by booking via Burgess NS Facebook page, or by texting 085-7254855. There will be a Sensory Friendly hour for those children who wish to avail of it from 12.30 to 1.30pm. The rest of the children will be there from 1.30pm.

Christmas market in Silvermines

A Christmas market will be held on Leamy’s Farm, Silvermines, on Saturday, December 2, from 2-6pm. Parking in Silvermines village with shuttle service to the farm. There will be lots of attractions – Santa grotto, train ride, live crib, fairground carousel and social dancing. The event is in aid of Enable Ireland and Silvermines Playground. Tickets are €20 per adult; children are free. Santa grotto is €15 per child.

Santa dash in Thurles

The GAA Thurles Fresh Milk Santa Dash takes place on Sunday next and will feature a 6k run/walk from The Dome at Semple Stadium at 11.30am. After the walk/run there will be an extensive programme of fun events at The Dome, including carol singing and a DJ. County players will be in attendance. Registration starts at 10.30am.

Cloughjordan Christmas Market

The Cloughjordan Christmas Market will take place on Saturday, December 2, from 12 noon to 6pm. It will feature local crafts, Christmas gifts, festive baking and food and a soup kitchen. The local Mellow Tones Choir and Kevin MacDonald will be entertaining patrons in St Kieran's Hall from 4pm, and Santa will arrive at 5pm. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm. The activities will conclude with the Christmas Tractor Parade and the Christmas raffle.

Christmas craft fair in Rathcabbin

A Christmas Craft Fair will take place on December 3 in Rathcabbin Hall from 4 to 7pm. There will be plenty of festive cheer and local craft shopping in advance of Christmas 2023. Support local, magic show for children, Santa and DJ in addition to craft tables. Local schools art copywriting, winners announced. Lorrha demonstration on Christmas flower arranging

A Christmas flower arranging demonstration with Richard Haslam will take place on Thursday, December 7, at 8pm in Sceal Community Hall, Lorrha. To book your seat call Pauline on 087 2324800. Admission €10.

Ballycommon Community Fair

We are asked to pay a visit to the cosy Ballycommon Muintir na Tíre Hall on Sunday, December 10, from 2 to 5 pm for the Ballycommon Christmas Community Fair. One is sure to find that unique Christmas gift amidst the locally produced crafts and festive food while enjoying carols, a cuppa and a catch-up. Would love to see all our neighbours. Christmas in Carrig

Festive times in Carrig will see an evening of festive music and song featuring In Tune for Life Orchestra, our parish choir and local musicians in Carrig Church on Saturday, December 16, at 8.15pm.

Christmas lights in Portumna

Join Santa in Portumna Square at 6pm on this Friday, December 1, for the annual switch on of Portumna's Christmas lights. Special guest this year will be one of the voices of iRadio, Louise Clarke, who is thrilled to return to her native town to share in the celebrations, where there is sure to be craic, treats and music, as well as a few surprise guests. This event is organised by Portumna's Chamber of Commerce. So a big thanks to the businesses of Portumna.

Turning on the lights in Templemore

Templemore Traders and the Community Development Association have worked together with Tipperary County Council and its Local Enterprise Office to bring you some seasonal fun on December 8. Don’t miss out on the big switch on of the lights and a visit from you know who. There will be lots of prizes and treats to be won while promoting a healthy and happy season for all our local traders. Also making an appearance on the night will be a number of tractors from the Moyne/Templetuohy Christmas lights parade, which takes place this year on December 16. So remember, December 8 at 7pm. Christmas concert in Templemore

Charity Christmas concert: The Parish Folk Group are hosting a charity Christmas concert on December 10 at 7.30pm in the Sacred Heart Church. Special guests Derek Ryan (Baritone) and Ryan Morgan (Tenor). Charities this year are the Irish Kidney Association, Milford Hospice and North Tipp Hospice. Tickets: €25. Tickets are now on sale in the Parish Office or from any member of the Folk Group. Your support for this event will be greatly appreciated.

Christmas lights in Newport

The switching on of the Christmas lights in the town for the upcoming festive season will take place on this Saturday evening, December 2, after the 7.15pm Mass with carol singing to add to the start of the celebrations.

Birdhill’s Christmas Craft Fair will run from 11am to 4pm on this Sunday, December 3. Your support for our local crafters will be greatly appreciated.

Newport Christmas Craft Fair will take place from 6 to 9pm on Saturday, December 9, and from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday, December 10.

Christmas celebrations in Ballina

The Ballina-Killaloe and surrounding area senior citizens will hold the annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 10, in the Lakeside Hotel. The festive celebration will start with Mass at 3pm, which will be followed by dinner, music and dance until 8pm. Tickets at €10 should be purchased in advance to enable the organisers to confirm numbers with the hotel and may be purchased from any member of the committee or by phoning 087-7734072.

The Bridgetown ICA Senior/Actively retired Christmas party will be held at the Lakeside Hotel on this Sunday, December 3, beginning with Mass at 1pm, which will be followed by dinner and entertainment. If you wish to attend, please contact any member of the ICA.
