Start of the astroturf project at Brickfields.

Christmas with the Stars in Nenagh

‘The Hits Keep Coming’ show

For the sixth year running, Nenagh AFC is hosting its very popular seasonal concert ‘Christmas with the Stars’ on Saturday, December 9, at 8pm in the Scouts Hall.

Once again, some of the finest songs ever recorded will be performed by members of Nenagh AFC along with some of Nenagh’s local talent. There is a song or two for everyone’s taste, dipping into several genres of music, including popular, country, '50s, rock and soul, including a few from film scores.

Revenue from the previous five years has gone a long way to further developing the facilities at Brickfields. A completed driveway, a refurbished upstairs in the clubhouse and the start of the long-awaited astroturf are just some of the projects that have benefitted from the last five concerts, which have generated well over €50,000.

The club is hoping to sell 400 tickets to have a sell-out performance, seeking the support of all players, past players and the parents of our juvenile players. The club is very thankful to the many local businesses who have once again supported the concert by taking ads to be displayed on the night.

Well-known locals like Johnny Cavanagh, Collie Hogan, Robert Ashman, Liam Gleeson and Sheila Chadwick are back for their sixth year and are joined by several new ‘stars’ including Shannon Cawley and Greg Starr. Once again, members of Nenagh Choral Society are participating including Sharin Kelly, Paul Browne, Alan O'Brien and Niamh Chadwick. Previous winners, ‘boy band’ Not 17 Anymore and girl band The Spicy Girls are back again. This year also, Musical Theatre Academy of Nenagh will perform their recent award-winning routines, which saw the academy win first prize at the Show Choir Ireland National Championship and the All-Ireland Variety Show Competition.

This is a concert not to be missed and, with a bar licence on the night, will be an ideal start to the holiday season for individuals, families and work parties. Pre-concert entertainment is provided once again by Nenagh Brass Band and some local celebrity judges will add to the night with helpful comments.
