Appointments at North Tipperary Development Company
New chairperson and vice-chairperson named
North Tipperary Development Company has appointed a new Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson.
Monica McElvaney has become Chairperson. Monica’s background is in community development, adult education, and social work. She has worked in the voluntary sector for much of her career. Monica McElvaney, Chairperson NTDC, stated: “Since I first became involved with NTDC in 2022, I have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication shown by all those involved – the staff, the board, and the partner agencies. NTDC is a dynamic and innovative organisation which is consistently focused on finding creative ways to achieving the best outcomes possible for the communities and the individuals with whom it has the privilege of working. The range of programmes and services offered by NTDC reflects this commitment to innovation and excellence and to being a strong advocate for the communities in North Tipperary. It also reflects the commitment of NTDC’s many funders and partner organisations to supporting community-based initiatives which aim to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities in North Tipperary.

Seamus Mullaney has become the company Vice-Chairperson. He is a native of Roscommon and came to Roscrea in1972 as a teacher of mathematics and science in Roscrea Vocational School. He subsequently became Principal of the school in 1990, having been Principal of Cashel Vocational School for nine years (1980-1989). The successful amalgamation of the three post primary schools in Roscrea followed with the creation of Coláiste Phobal Roscrea in 2000. He retired from teaching in 2009.
Seamus joined the board of NTDC in February 2020. Voluntary organisations have always been part of his life and joining the board was just an extension of this. The ethos of North Tipperary Development Company appealed to him and since joining the board he has been very impressed with the quality and diversity of services offered. The empowerment of people to improve their own lives and the lives of others is at the core of this company. The company has a very talented and dedicated staff under the leadership of the dynamic CEO Michael Murray. We thank all our funders for allowing us to do this important work and look forward to their continued support.
North Tipperary Development Company (NTDC) is a not-for-profit, community focused local development organisation, providing a wide range of services in North Tipperary. The company deliver a range of programmes including the Ascend Domestic Abuse Service, childcare, youth services, training, job supports, community development services including SICAP, enterprise supports and grants, counselling and family supports, health and wellbeing supports, older person services, social enterprise, rural development including LEADER, and asylum and migrant support services.
The company is supported by the main funding agencies/departments operating in the county, including, Tipperary County Council, Tipperary LCDC, DRCD, Tusla, HSE, DSP, TETB, Department of Justice, SEAI, DCEDIY and other funders.
