Remembering the late Paul Gleason, Templemore descendant

The death occurred in America recently of Paul Gleason, aged 98.

He was a nephew of Templemore native Fr Francis Gleeson, who was immortalised in Matania’s famous painting - The Last General Absolution of the Munsters - at Rue de Bois during World War I.

A very proud American, Paul was equally proud of his Irish roots and visited Templemore and Borrisoleigh on many occasions. Visits to Tommy Gleeson in Lacey Avenue and John Delaney in Rathmoy were treasured as he traced family connections.

Paul was so proud to be present in Templemore and Glasnevin Cemetery in May 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rue de Bois.

He worked in the FBI for many years and lived life to the full.

He also had the rare distinction of being the seventh son of a seventh son.

Farewell to Paul, from all your friends and relations in Templemore and Ireland, where you certainly left your mark.

Rest in peace.
