US marching band to visit Nenagh

The John F Kennedy High School marching band is to visit Nenagh for a performance on March 20.

Coinciding with St Patrick's Day, the visit will see the Californian band celebrating the 50th anniversary of its first visit to Ireland. Performances are planned for a number of locations including Nenagh, where 65 members of the band are to be involved.

District Administrator Rosemary Joyce told a meeting of Nenagh Municipal District that the visitors have offered to donate their uniforms to any bands that might want them. The option of a performance in the grounds of Nenagh Castle is being considered.

Ms Joyce said plans for Nenagh's celebration of St Patrick's Day on March 17 would be announced shortly.
