Disruption to water supply in Tipp

Uisce Éireann working to restore water supply following burst impacting Cashel

Alternative water supplies in place in Cashel to support customers during repairs

10 March 2024 - Uisce Éireann is working with Tipperary County Council to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in Cashel Town, Springmount, Golden and surrounding areas following a burst to a water main.

Water services crews have been dispatched to find and fix the burst and every effort is being made to reduce the impact on customers and restore water supply as quickly as possible. Following repairs, it may take several hours for normal water supply to return to all customers due to the size of the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. A further update will be provided tomorrow morning.

Alternative water supply locations

To further support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged alternative water supplies in key locations including St. Patrick’s Hospital and Cashel Rugby Club from noon today. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.

Colin Cunningham, Uisce Éireann, commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore the water supply to homes and businesses. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have and we appreciate your patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
