John Flannery and Tim O'Regan looking at the astrophotography display in Nenagh Library.

Star-gazing event at library

For all budding, seasoned or just simply curious astronomers and star gazers, join John Flannery as he takes us on 'Adventures Across the Universe' on Tuesday, March 12, at 7pm in Nenagh Library.

Weather permitting, we hope to venture outside to observe the moon and Jupiter through a telescope at the end of the presentation.

John Flannery is a local amateur astronomer interested in the night sky from a young age. He regularly travels to national and international astronomical events, including total solar eclipses, and has contributed widely on the subject. John also produces an annual calendar of celestial highlights.

He has also organised a display in Nenagh Library of 16 images by Irish astrophotographers that featured previously in the IAS 'Images of Starlight' exhibitions that have been shown in various venues across Ireland. Many of these photos are stunning images of stars, planets and galaxies photographed through telescopes in Ireland.
