Victorious Coláiste Phobal badminton team.All-Ireland champions! Massive congratulations to our 16 Girls Badminton team, who won the All-Ireland on Thursday, March 21. Their first game was against Salerno of Galway and they beat them 4-2. Up next was the Presentation, Kilkenny, and they overcame them on a score of 5-1. And finally they took on Sullivan Upper and beat them on a scoreline of 6-0.
Congratulations to Ciara Crofton, Fia Dooley, Abi Marks, Roan Carney and Tierna Conlon McLoughlin as well as their mentors Ms O’Meara, Ms Coleman and Ms Moloney. A super achievement from a super group.

Road Safety Seminar: On Tuesday, March 19, our Fifth and Sixth Year LCA classes attended a Road Safety Seminar in Templemore Garda College. Below is a summary of the day's key messages from a student's perspective.
“The key message that I learned on the day was that it is always better to be safe than sorry. The shocking story told by a crash survivor about the danger of sitting in a comfortable position, with feet up in a car, really had an impact.
“The Virtual Reality goggles that allowed us to experience a visual of being in a crash and how the emergency services respond. The impact of speed was also a key point; reducing speed by 5km/h can lead to significantly less chance of a collision and much less damage as a result. It was shocking to think that when travelling on a motorway at 120km/h that it actually means 1km every 30 seconds and 100m in three seconds.
“It would be easy to spend several seconds checking your phone or changing the radio and in that time so much could change on the road.
“By the end of the day I felt relieved to a certain extent, as I now have a clear understanding of how easily things can go wrong in a car and I won't be afraid to tell my friends what they can and cannot do in the car.” - Kayleigh Guidera, Sixth Year, LCA.
Transition Year Trip to Paris: Before the Easter Break, our TY students travelled to Paris for their school tour. With a jam-packed agenda, they hit the ground running and really immersed themselves in the best of what Paris has to offer. Thanks to Ms Mulrooney for coordinating and all the teachers, who travelled and made the trip possible.
