Armed gardaí called to Nenagh

Gardaí in Nenagh called for the support of the force’s regional armed response unit to help deal with an incident in Saint Joseph’s Park in the town on Saturday last.

Gardaí at local level deemed that they needed the assistance of members of the unit to arrest an individual during the course of the incident in Nenagh’s oldest housing estate.

One man was arrested and later charged with criminal damage and “another offence”, a garda spokesman at the local station told this newspaper. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

On the same date, an incident occurred in the nearby Hamilton Drive estate in the town. A person was allegedly threatened with “an implement” by another individual.

One suspect was arrested and detained at the local garda station and a file is now being prepared for the DPP.
