Cathal Kelly, from Mr Hogan’s class, was selected best in his wood technology class for his craftsmanship.

Students impress with their woodwork projects

The Wood Technology Department at Nenagh CBS chose the best project from each of the four Third Year classes. The task was made extremely difficult due to the level of skills and design work shown by the boys.

Michal Ostapkiewicz, in Mr Lee’s class, created an elegant artefact celebrating music, incorporating Kayne West's Graduation album and handcrafted techniques; such as contrasting solid woods to enhance its appearance.

Hugo Healy, in Mr O’Shea’s class, created an elegant artefact celebrating music. It featured traditional Irish instruments like harp, banjo, and crotchet symbol placed on a base in the shape of Ireland. Hugo used a contrast of solid woods for an aesthetic look.

Tymoteusz Gach, in Mr Lee’s second class, created a piece that acknowledges how young people enjoy music as a form of relaxation. Contrasting solid wood, on a vase designed to look like a record complimented the guitar and music symbols on the base.

Cathal Kelly, from Mr Hogan’s class created a piece to enhance our living spaces. His great woodturning skills was on display in his artefact. A lovely contrast of solid woods used also. The boys were delighted to receive a €30 voucher each as their prize. Well done boys on designing and creating such wonderful Wood Technology projects

Well done to the Woodwork Department for acknowledging the great work that has been done all year in the wood technology classes.
