Pedal power for cancer support

On Saturday, June 22, 13 cyclists from Upperchurch Drombane Cycling Club will undertake a cycle around the perimeter of Tipperary in under 24 hours covering a distance totalling 400 kilometres. They are doing so to raise vital funds for Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre in Thurles, which is a part of North Tipperary Hospice.

They will embark on the journey starting in Mary Willies on the old Dublin Road near Urlingford on the Kilkenny border of at 3.30am, heading in a clockwise direction with planned stops in Clonmel, Mitchelstown, Rearcross, Portroe, Riverstown and Roscrea before arriving back at Mary Willies before completing their journey at the Suir Haven Centre Clongour Road in Thurles.

The group will pass through Gortnahoe, Mullinahone, Ninemilehouse, Grangemockler, Carrick-on-suir, Kilsheelan, Clonmel, Knocklofty, Newcastle, Goatenbridge, Clogheen, Ballyporeen, Mitchelstown, Galbally, Emily, Cullen, Monard, Toem, Doon, Rearcross, Newport, Birdhill, Ballina, Portroe, Ballinderry, Terryglass, Portumna, Birr/Riverstown, Cloughjordan, Toomevara, Moneygall, Roscrea, Templemore, and Templetuohy, Mary Willies, Thurles.

The 13 cyclists are Jim Bourke, John Cahill, Adam Challen, Joe Clohessy, Davy Cullen, Martin Deasy, Seamus Duggan, Seamus Fahey, Pat Healy, Nigel Kennedy, Danny Lawlor, Patrick O’Kelly and Jerry Ryan. Support crew of Davy Russell & Gareth Genockey.
