Sam Curling and Littleton jockey Liam Quinlan shared a winner at Roscommon on Monday week last where the four-year-old Lord Maher landed the near two-mile opportunity maiden hurdle.

A 16/1 shot in the trainer’s own colours, he led before the third-last hurdle and was well on top in beating Paul Nolan’s Tyson by two and a quarter lengths.

John Nallen won the concluding bumper with Minella Hollow which added to last month’s Ballinrobe success in fine style. Again, ridden by Johnny Barry, the 100/30 chance led early in the straight and came home six lengths clear of Emmet Mullins’ recent Cork winner Churchfield Sunset.

John Ryan added to his double at Clonmel five days previously when Andyourbirdcansing won the mares’ maiden hurdle over two and a quarter miles at Sligo on Tuesday.

Shane Fitzgerald rode one of those Clonmel winners and he was again in the saddle as the 6/1 chance, in the trainer’s own colours, made all the running to score by three-parts of a length from Gordon Elliott’s Sainte Baol.

Jake Coen also added to a Clonmel win at the Peter Fahey-trained Koori Star landed the opportunity maiden hurdle. Owned by the Wear The Fox Hat Syndicate, the 14/1 chance led approaching the final hurdle and pulled right away to win by eight lengths from the Philip Rothwell-trained Break The Boundary, Coen’s third winner of the month.

Trainer Andy Slattery and his son Andrew landed a double at Limerick on Wednesday where they won with two well-fancied horses. The strong 3/1 chance Cloud Seeker, in the familiar Pat Garvey colours, took the 11-furlong handicap for three-year-olds with a battling half-length success over the Jim Bolger-trained Question Of Class.

The Lumper Lane Syndicate-owned Killeemore Lad completed the Slattery double in the concluding handicap over two miles and one furlong. A 9/4 favourite, he added to two previous wins over hurdles when scoring by a length from the Eamon O’Connell-trained Curious Bride.

Silkies Sib won the concluding nine-furlong handicap for trainer Tim Doyle and Amy Jo Hayes at Leopardstown on Wednesday. Owned and bred by the trainer’s wife Claire, the four-year-old added to a win at Tipperary in September of last year when beating the John O’Donoghue-trained favourite Sheen Falls Time by a length and a half. It was an eighth career success for the Fethard jockey.

Gordon Elliott gave Jake Coen his second winner of the week as Little Trilby won the two-mile three-furlong maiden hurdle at Downpatrick on Sunday. Owned by the Little Emperor Syndicate, the 8/1 chance led from the first hurdle and battle well when challenged on the run-in to win by a neck from Sirekoff.

The trainer also landed the concluding bumper with the favourite Gers Gigi which is owned by John Doyle and Dee L’Estrange. She was eased close to the finish by Harry Swan and still had eight lengths to spare over Liam Lennon’s She Can Do It.

Aidan O'Brien landed a winner at Gowran Park on Sunday where The Parthenon came with a late run to take the opening seven-furlong maiden. The Wayne Lordan-ridden odds-on favourite got the better of Jessica Harrington’s Loch Tay close to the finish to win by three-parts of a length.

Edward O'Grady teamed up with Seamie Heffernan for a narrow success in the eight-furlong handicap. Stormie Outlook did the business for the pair when getting up in the final strides to pip the Tim Doyle-trained Pink Socks by a neck.
