End of an era at Templemore College

The end of an era has been marked at Templemore College of Further Education as Deputy Principal Jane Quinlan has decided to start a new journey in her life after 40 years of service to Tipperary Education and Training Board, 30 of which she served here at Templemore College (formerly St Sheelan's College).

Jane is the last of the staff who worked here when it was a second-level school, so she is part of this college's fabric. Jane has had many students over the years, started them on their career paths and offered them great advice both personally and professionally. Everyone here at TCFE wishes Jane all the best in her retirement.

Meanwhile, the Film and TV Production students from TCFE recently had a premiere screening of the films they made as part of their Film Studies module. The screening was in the Source in Thurles.

Each student wrote their own movie script and edited the finished product. They also acted, found locations, directed, did lighting and camera work on the various films. The resulting films were highly entertaining and the students are to be complemented for their creativity and skills.

This was a first foray into film-making by the majority, so they were really challenged but the finished products were excellent. The mentorship of Anthony Hughes was invaluable in guiding them through this creative journey.

For those of you who walk in Templemore’s Town Park be careful – I have never seen so many zombies, murderers and strange individuals in one location! There were sad stories of war, heart-warming stories of family, tales of obsession and more. The variety of genres and themes highlights the students’ creativity and versatility.
