Mighty fun in Killea

The sun shone resplendently in Killea on Sunday week last as a huge crowd turned out for the 14th Annual Féile Margaret O’Sullivan/Killea Fun Day.

The large crowd was musically entertained by a host of excellent musicians and singers while there was an endless amount of activities for young and old, including sheep racing, mouse racing, Killea’s fittest family, bouncy castles, hurling targets, football targets, vintage tractors, darts, face painting, dog shows, draws, more draws and endless stalls. One thing is sure in Killea - you’ll never go home hungry. Burgers, buns, pancakes, sweets, crisps, chocolate, tay, coffee and minerals were all in plentiful supply.

And as the sun set on a wonderful day, there was a rousing sing-song in O’Sullivans to round off a great occasion. Events like this are scarce nowadays and immense credit is due to everyone who helped. There was a marvellous sense of community spirit in the air and long may this event continue. The money raised will be distributed amongst various community groups and projects. Well done to one and all.
