Roscrea Trail Blazers upcoming schedule of walks

The last few months have been busy for the Roscrea Trail Blazers with all the Aran Islands walked to date and some more islands to complete.

Our next challenge is the Galtee Challenge on June 29 and ahead of that we had our annual summer charity walk on Friday, June 21, with a 7km hike around the village of Ballyboy. This charity walk was in aid of the Offaly branch of Parkinson’s Ireland. A large group gathered at Dan and Molly's Pub at Ballyboy and at 7.30. They headed off on the short walk around the nearby countryside. The walk was led by locals Sean and Rose Bracken, who made sure the group were well looked after.  Back at Dan and Molly's, Caitriona, Fergal and Molly made sure the group were well fed and watered while Nora and Des provided the entertainment for the night.

The Offaly branch of Parkinson's Ireland was represented by Jean and Nuala who both expressed their gratitude with over €1,000 being raised on the night. A massive thank you must go out to Sandra Coady and her extended family who looked after everyone so well on the night. Thanks also to Bernie's Super Value, Oliver Douglas and Sons and Liffey Mills for suppling spot prizes on the night. Thanks to everyone who joined us on the night and put their hands in their pockets for this worthy cause.

Our Thursday night walk this week, June 27, is up by Glenbarrow Waterfall and the Mill Loop (Distance: 8.5km, Time: 2.5 hours, Grade: Moderate). Meeting at Glenbarrow carpark at 7.30 pm. To join the group and to see what the club has to offer please follow the contact details below.
