Launch of the Munster Fleadh

The Munster Fleadh Cheoil was officially launched in St Patrick's College, Thurles, on Friday last by Superintendent Eddie Golden to a full room. Proceedings began with a wonderful display by musicians from branches all around the county. There were also speeches from the Munster Council Cathaoirleach Tadgh O'Maolcatha, DJ Darcy from the Premier Credit Union and the County Cathaoirleach Bairbre ní Fheargail went through the weeklong events of the Fleadh that will coincide with the competitions over the week. The winners of the My Munster Fleadh Competition, Sixth Class from St Michaels National School, Holycross, gave a fabulous performance on the night also. The full programme of events and the timetable of competitions are available online at munstercomhaltas.ie.

Included on the programme are events in the Source, the Premier Hall and in every corner of the town with sessions on every night. There were some wonderful words of encouragement and a given sense of how the local community, Munster Council CCÉ and the County Board of Tipperary CCÉ, are ready to give a great week of events for the Fleadh itself from July 14-20 in Thurles.
