Frawley claims National Heptathlon Gold

Nenagh Olympic AC’s Laura Frawley was crowned the ladies 123.ie National Senior Combined Events champions on after a gruelling two days of competition in Tullamore.

Frawley picked up wins in the 100m Hurdles (14.91), High Jump (1.69m), and Long Jump (5.67m) on her way to taking the senior heptathlon title with 4831 points, taking over from Lara O’Byrne who had won the title the last two years.

Frawley was pushed hard across the two days by Ashleigh McArdle 4714 and Laura Frey 4337 who walked away with silver and bronze respectively.

Sean Mockler (Moycarkey/Coolcroo A.C.) continued his impressive run of form in the hammer, throwing a best of 68.09m to add to his recent national senior title.

Templemore’s John Dwyer finished fourth, winning the Over 35-49 age category, while he also claimed third place overall in the Discus.

There was gold for Nenagh Olympic’s Niall Kelly in the Over 60 300m Hurdles while fellow club member Sarah Lane finished third in the 800m.

In the ladies hammer, Birr AC’s Claire Kennedy finished fourth with Templemore’s Kaley Cousens one place behind. In the men’s 1500m, Nenagh’s Cian Hodgins finished fifteenth.

Cork City Sports & Morton Games

Ava Rochford jumped 1.65m in the High Jump at the Cork City Sports at MTU Cork on Wednesday and later in the week jumped 1.70m in finishing fifth at the Morton Games in Santry.
