A very happy Emily Monaghan at the Munster Fleadh.

Fleadh success for Ballina trio

Well done to the three young U12 musicians from Ballina parish - Emily Monaghan, Rúan Hyland and Adam Kerin - who took part in the Munster Fleadh in Thurles.

Our young people competed in Irish/English singing and Banjo categories and can be so proud of their performances. Huge congratulations to Emily, who was winner in the girl’s English singing and Rúan who was placed third in the boy’s English singing.

We wish Emily the best of luck in the All-Ireland Fleadh, which will be held in Wexford in August. Emily, a student of our local county, provincial and national singing champion, Deirdre Scanlan, is daughter of Karen and Ger, and her extended Monaghan, Collins and Sullivan families have a huge involvement for many years, in traditional music in our district.
