Golf classic for hospice

Next Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4, see the return of the annual hospice golf classic to Nenagh Golf Club. Since its launch some years ago this major fundraising event has become a popular stop-off for golfers from all over the county and beyond, due in no small way to the excellent array of prizes on offer.

This year is no exception. Thanks to the generosity of a broad list of sponsors the prize fund will once again be in excess of €2,500 and with an entry fee of just €100 for a team of four you can expect to see the available tee times being snapped up quickly. Event organiser, Paddy Heffernan, credits the generosity of their sponsors which has helped build up the popularity of the event year on year. The main co-sponsors this year are Kellys of Fantane, Eoghan O’Donoghue Construction, Michael Crowe Heating and Plumbing, Costello Oil, Cloughjordan House and Arrabawn. In addition to the main team prizes there will be the usual array of individual prizes donated by The Thatched Cottage, The Whiskey Still, The Lakeside Hotel, Trish Frawley, and Savvy Kitchens. Participants will also be able to compete for four green fees for the superb Cashen course at Ballybunion Golf Club. So at just €25 per head it’s no wonder golfers are already lining up to compete and support the wonderful work being done by North Tipperary Hospice.

Don’t miss out. Book your tee time on the club’s BRS booking system before it’s too late. The competition format is a champagne scramble for men, women or mixed teams which has proven very popular. There will be special prizes on offer for best all ladies team and visitors so something for everyone. There will of course be the usual goody bags for each player too. See you there at the weekend.
