Annual Devil’s Bit Mass

Mary, Mystical Rose Praesidium of the Legion of Mary, Templemore, put their trust in their Spiritual Commander in Chief, Our Blessed Lady, to provide a window of fine weather for the annual Mass on the Devil’s Bit last Sunday, July 21.

After a heavy shower around 1pm, the afternoon remained dry for more than two hours to complete the programme of the Rosary and Mass, which was attended by around 50 people.

Among the group were a small number who attended the ceremonies for the first time. These included Gerard Keenan from Magherafelt, Co Derry, Ollie and Maureen Markham and their daughter Jennifer from Ennis, Co Clare. Jennifer, an accomplished violinist, played a number of hymns during the Mass.

Fr Domnic Meehan, PP, Loughmore, officiated at the Mass and was supported in the Readings and Prayers of the Faithful by members of the community. Fr Domnic reminded us of the natural beauty of God’s creation and how Jesus during his public life spent many times on mountains in prayer and reflection similar to here.

At the conclusion of Mass, the Legion of Mary thanked all the stakeholders and volunteers for their help, in particular Coillte, Templemore Parish Office, Sacristan and Jennifer Markham for playing the lovely hymns.
