More Nowlan Park woe for Maher
By Joe Scully
Tipperary vice-captain Caoimhe Maher couldn’t hide to hide her disappointment after a second semi-final defeat in a row, Tipp’s sixth in the last seven years.
“We are very disappointed,” she said.
“We came here to win; we left here twelve months ago thinking we couldn’t wait to be back and do ourselves justice but sadly it didn’t happen today.”
The Burgess/Duharra star felt her sides slow start wasn’t the reason they came up just short.
“We obviously haven’t had a game in three weeks, so a slow start was always going to be a possibility,” she added.
“However, we didn’t panic, and we knew the scores would come, that we were good enough to get them. I suppose we will have to look back at it and see where it went wrong, but I don’t think the start would have played into it, as there was plenty of hurling left in us for the rest of the game.”
