Further information on Arrabawn's plan for new pipe to Nenagh River

Further information has been received by Tipperary County Council on a plan by Arrabawn Co-op to lay a pipe from its plant in Nenagh to the Nenagh River.

The co-op is seeking to install the underground “pumped outfall pipeline” for the conveyance of cooling water, condensate and treated effluent from its existing waste water treatment plant at Knockanpierce.

The planned discharge point for the pipe to the river is immediately upstream of Tyone Bridge, Nenagh.

The route of the proposed pipe would be from Knockanpierce via Farnamurry and then along a section of the Ballygraigue Road to its junction with the R498 Thurles Road.

From there, the route is along the Thurles Road to the entrance to the co-op’s store at Tyone, where it would extend across a grassed area to a discharge point on the river. The overall length of the pipe proposed is approximately 1.25 kilometres.

A Natura Impact Statement in respect of the proposed development is included in the planning application.

The co-op says the planned development works relate to activities for which an Industrial Emissions Licence is held.
