Mary Hogan’s Lough Derg swim

There were great celebrations on July 14 in Ballina at the conclusion of Mary Hogan's Lough Derg swim.

Mary, who is from Cloninaha, Ballinderry, completed her journey along the entire length of the lake from Portumna to Ballina over 11 stages, with the final stretch dedicated to raising funds for North Tipperary Hospice.

Using this opportunity to fundraise was inspired by the loss through cancer of family members and friends.

Accompanying Mary during different stages of her Lough Derg Swim were Pat Coonan and Michael Byrne in kayaks and Brendan Keogh, Yolande Ferguson and Helen Mc Dermott on boat. Caroline Dwyer (using a kayak), also did a stretch of the journey with Mary. The project would not have been possible without the constant care, effort and time afforded by all.

HOW TO DONATE

Many thanks to all who have already supported, and if you wish to make a donation you can visit North Tipperary Hospice website and go to Mary Hogan’s Lough Derg Swim or contact Mary directly on 086 8336612. Thank you.
