Planning application delays

Further information is requested in just under 40% of planning applications in Tipperary, a meeting of Nenagh Municipal District heard.

Cllr Phyll Bugler observed that a lot of time is lost where applications are returned to the applicant or their agent. She believed a lot of the issues could be resolved with a phone call.

Executive Planner Jonathan Flood said the local authority tries to avoid further information requests. Applicants and agents are made aware of the requirements at pre-planning stage, and need to heed the advice they are given, he said. The council is "fully justified" in seeking further information in cases where requests are issued.
