A captivating journey through history

Join us for a captivating journey through history and culture from Monday to Friday, August 19 to 23.

This year’s events for Heritage Week take a look into the past to reconnect you with nature, movement and traditional art forms.

Roots to Routes: Monday, August 19, from 2-4pm; suitable for all ages. Join us for a creative family workshop led by Fionnuala McKenna. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and heritage as you learn to create your very own nature booklets using leaves and foliage.

Lands to Hands: Tuesday, August 20, from 2-4pm; suitable for ages 18-plus. Join us for a captivating workshop led by Julie Lockett, where the land meets movement in a unique and personal way. Participants are invited to bring a small piece of their local environment. Through creative exploration and movement exercises, we will delve into the deep connections between ourselves and the land we inhabit.

Macramé: Knots & Threads - Wednesday, August 21, from 6.30-8.30pm, suitable for ages 12-plus. Macramé is an ancient Arabic craft that involves the use of rope or strong wools to create beautiful knotted patterns. These knots build up in descending rows and form decorative wall hangings, bracelets, plant holders, rugs and tapestries.

Screen Printing: Thursday, August 22, from 2-4pm; suitable for ages 12-plus. Screen printing is a printing technique where a design is transferred on to a surface through a mesh screen. Join our community outreach artists and members of Mná na nEalaín Collective Carol Kennedy and Rennie Buenting.

Creative Map Making: Friday, August 23, from 2-4pm; suitable for all ages. Join Melissa Ryan for a captivating workshop for map enthusiasts and community storytellers. Whether you’re passionate about exploring new places or sharing your unique experiences, this session invites you to express your journeys through the art of illustration.
