Tipp Museum seeks artists for workshops

Tipperary Museum has put out a call to programming artists to devise and deliver a series of children’s workshops in the museum between October 2024 and September 2025.

Tipperary Museum is a Local Authority Museum, based in Clonmel. The Museum has a collection of approximately 25,000 artefacts related to the history and heritage of Tipperary, its people, places and events. The museum wishes to increase its programme of children’s workshops inspired by the Museum’s collection, seasons, traditions, calendar customs and national events.

The museum is seeking applications from individuals, groups and/or organisations experienced in facilitating public engagement workshops to develop and deliver a programme of creative activities both for and with younger audiences. We want to establish a once-monthly opportunity for young people to participate in imaginative and high-quality activities that will tie-in with the museum collection, broader cultural initiatives such as National Drawing Day, Culture Night and Cruinniú na nÓg.

Workshops will be devised for children aged 6 – 16 years and occasionally family workshops. Workshops will be 1.5 - 2 hours in duration and held on Saturdays.

Applications are welcome from artists who work in any art-form. We are particularly interested in artists open to cross art-form collaboration and those who would welcome the opportunity to use Museum exhibitions and collections for inspiration and as a creative jumping off point. We endeavor to utilize sustainable materials and champion the ethos to reduce, rethink, reuse and recycle where possible.

Artists will have the input and support of Tipperary Museum’s Education and Outreach Officer.

The museum is open to expressions of interest from artists at different stages of their careers and from as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible.
