Heritage Week at Portumna Castle

Portumna Castle has an eventful Heritage Week this year, August 17-25.

To celebrate Heritage Week, for gardening enthusiasts, OPW craft gardener Lynn O’Keeffe will present a free talk ‘The Wood Wide Web’ on Sunday, August 25, at 12.30pm.

To mark the 800-year anniversary of the Dominican Order in Ireland, there will be two free priory tours on Wednesday, August 21, and Sunday, August 25, at 11am. These tours will highlight the history, architecture and other interesting aspects of the Dominican priory.

For Local Link bus users (547 – Ballinasloe to Portumna and 322 Nenagh to Portumna), there is free admission to Portumna Castle during Heritage Week on production of bus ticket.

For the month of August, on exhibition at Portumna Castle Gallery is Micheál Ó Fearghail’s paintings ‘Low Tide and No Tide’. Lough Derg and various costal locations around Ireland inspired this collection.
