Finn makes winning Munster debut

Caitriona Finn made her Munster debut in their Vodafone Interprovincial Championship win over Leinster at Virgin Media Park in Cork on Saturday.

Munster came up trumps with five try bonus-point win with Garrykennedy native Finn coming on at out-half for the last thirty minutes where Munster pulled away to win 31-22 with the help of two late tries.

Finn, who started out with Nenagh Ormond, but now plays her club rugby with UL Bohemian, didn’t feature in the first round win over Ulster but the eighteen-year-old was given the nod to face the defending champions.

“Since I was named on the bench on Wednesday, the nerves have been slowly building,” she said.

“Actually, when I got on the pitch it felt really normal, just like another game with the girls.”

She added: “This is my dream for I don’t know how long. It’s really nice to show my parents that all the work and the driving they have done for me paid off a little bit.”

Munster sit top spot on the table as they prepare to head west to take on Connacht in Galway next Saturday in round 3 with kick-off at 2.30pm and will be live on TG4.
