Killavilla face Limerick’s best in season opener

Champions Killavilla United fly the flag for the North Tipperary & District League when they begin their Munster Champions Trophy campaign at the quarter final stage this Saturday at 7.00pm.

They have a tough task when they make the relatively short journey to Annacotty to take on Limerick District League champions Aisling Annacotty.

The North Tipperary champions sprung into form midway through last season and went on to secure a league and cup double thanks to a twelve-game winning streak.

A particular highlight of Michael Lynch’s debut season in charge of the Roscrea side was the high standard that he set from the side-line, which in the end were being driven from the players themselves, who demanded excellence from their colleagues, but crucially in a positive way; this Killavilla side are more together and enjoying the journey more than any side in recent memory.

They take on an Aisling Annacotty side that are already up and running after defeating Clare counterparts, Avenue United in round two weeks ago.

Conor Coughlan stole the show on his return to his old club, scoring four times in a highly impressive 6-2 win with Paul Brennan and Leon Daly also on target.

The danger man last season for Aisling was their number 9, Adam Foley, who netted nineteen goals in 22 league games.

This should be a good test for Killavilla United to gauge where they are ahead of their upcoming Munster & FAI Junior Cup outings.
