Sean Hogan, Head Chef at the Abbey Court Hotel & Leisure Centre.

Top chef at award-winning Nenagh hotel

At the Abbey Court Hotel and Leisure Centre, a familiar and highly skilled face is leading the way in transforming our culinary offerings. Head Chef Sean Hogan continues to impress and elevate our dining experience with his remarkable skills and dedication.

Originally from Ardcroney and now based in Newtown, Sean Hogan’s career is a rich tapestry of experience and growth. His culinary journey began under the mentorship of Joe Ryan at the Half Door, where he honed his foundational skills. Formal training at GMIT was followed by significant roles at prestigious venues, including the 5* Merrion Hotel in Dublin and The Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge, now known as The Intercontinental.

A pivotal moment in Sean’s career came during his time at Campagne in Kilkenny, a Michelin-starred restaurant, where working with Gareth Byrne provided invaluable experience and a renewed passion for the culinary arts. This experience was instrumental in shaping his approach and vision for food. Following Kilkenny, Sean continued to build his reputation at The Killeen House Hotel in Killarney as Sous Chef under the Rosneys. His expertise and flair were further showcased during his tenure at Larkins in Garrykennedy, where he spent four years leading the kitchen with distinction.

Upon his return to Abbey Court Hotel & Leisure Centre, Sean initially took on the role of junior sous chef in April. His exceptional talent and innovative approach quickly made him a standout, leading to his promotion to Head Chef - a position he has embraced with enthusiasm and creativity.
