Newport’s Under 15 Mixed Relay team, representing Tipperary with their silver medals- James Long, Jack Kelly, Lucy Palmer & Sophie Kelly

Double Gold for Cloughjordan in Community Games Finals

There was gold on the double for Tipperary and Cloughjordan at the Cairn Community Games National Outdoor team finals held at SETU Carlow last weekend.

Cloughjordan's girls U12 soccer team and U11 mixed tag rugby team represented Tipperary, and both returned home as 2024 national champions. This is a massive and congratulations to both teams, and their mentors.

Over 2000 athletes from across the country descended on Carlow for the national finals. Tipperary were well represented across almost every event and the massive crowds in attendance. Tipperary added another 5 silver medals, 3 bronze and 2 Pewter medals.

The Tipperary representatives were as follows:

Girls U8 60m: 2nd - Muireann Ryan (Drom & Inch), 3rd - Sarah O'Dwyer (Newport)

Boys U12 Long Puck: 3rd - Liam Butler (Drom & Inch)

Boys U12 Ball Throw: 2nd - Jim O'Mahony (Newport)

Girls U14 Long Puck: 3rd - Lily Ivors (Ballingarry); 4th - Mae Kennedy (Boherlahan)

Boys U14 Long Jump: 2nd - Matthew Mellerick (Newport)

Boys U14 Javelin: 4th - Kailum O'Meara (Roscrea)

U13 4×100m Mixed Relay: 2nd - Roscrea (Lorcan Nolan, Ella O'Meara, Lorelai Hayes, Kyle O'Meara)

U15 4×100m Mixed Relay: 2nd – Newport )Jack Kelly, Sophie Kelly, Lucy Palmer, James Long).

Lorrha’s Lexie Pyke also narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the Shot Put.
