A fun day out in the park

The sunshine broke through the overhanging clouds, after the earlier drizzly conditions, to provide a carpet for a pleasant afternoon for the scores who turned out for the Annual Fun Day at Birdhill on Sunday.

There was all the variety from trying their hand at the side attractions to using their imagination to participate in the colourful cardboard mask parade, for which there was a large turnout, and for ball throwing which required a combination of skill and good balance.

There was a steady flow of customers for the complimentary ice cream cones, while Brett Fitzpatrick and his team had a busy afternoon supplying some delicious burgers and sausage rolls.

It was all part of the autumn programme of Birdhill Tidy Village Committee under their chairperson, Siobhan Larkin and the team of volunteers from the vibrant organisation that it continues to be, laying on a great afternoon for the community to enjoy.

The venue was the Community Park, which has been developed into a valuable amenity for the community in the village and surrounds with walks, seating and plenty from the variety of trees and plants to water features to admire and enjoy in a tranquil setting.
