Public petition over Templemore convent this weekend

As momentum grows in the campaign to secure the Convent of Mercy Templemore building for community use, this coming weekend marks an important milestone.

A public petition is being taken up at many locations both in Templemore and in surrounding villages, as well as after church services.

Fr Jim Costigan, who sadly passed away at the weekend, believed strongly in community and was a staunch supporter of this campaign. In his memory and with the endorsement of both his family and the parish, the petition will go ahead as planned.

Petition takers will be outside shops on both Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. This is your opportunity to have your say and show your support. Completing the petition will take just a moment but its effect could last a lifetime for those who will need the services that the use of this building will allow us to provide. This campaign is all about communities, including Templemore, Clonmore, Killea, Drom, Borrisoleigh, Loughmore, Castleiney, Moyne, Templetuohy and Clonakenny.

We are fortunate to have a wonderful community spirit and now is the time to come together and show our support for securing the convent. Together, we can make wonderful things happen.
