Kilkeary man’s run in memory of son

MICHEÁL Ó Sé of Kilkeary is running a half-marathon in Dingle this Saturday, September 7, in memory of his son, who was stillborn just over a year ago. He is doing it as a fundraiser for Féileacáin (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Support), a national charity that proved a great help to Micheál and his wife Ciara after they sadly lost a son, whom they named Fiachra, on August 24 last year.

Micheál (43) spoke very highly of Féileacáin and the services it provides to bereaved families, including counselling and unique supports such as the ‘memory box’, in which parents can keep a small memento like a cut of hair, a handprint or footprint of their lost child, which can also be a source of comfort.

Originally from Kerry, Micheál now runs a software business in Kilkeary where he lives with his wife and son Rian (4). He has set up an online fundraising page ahead of the run on Saturday. Micheál is hoping that people will support him and donate much-needed funds to Féileacáin in memory of Fiachra.
