Jobs boost for Tipp

Fianna Fáil Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill has welcomed plans for the creation of new jobs at Trifol Resources in Lanespark, Co Tipperary over the coming years.

Deputy Cahill and his party colleague, Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers, visited the state-of-the-art facility on Friday afternoon.

The plant already employs 15 people and this will increase to 30 in 2025. Expansion plans are already in place to add 12 more reactors which will increase the number of people employed to 70 by 2030. Some 45 people have already been involved in the build out of the plant over the last two years.

A further 400 indirect jobs will be created.

Deputy Cahill said: "I'm delighted that 70 new jobs will be created by 2030 by Trifol in the former Bord na Móna briquette factory in Lanespark. Some 400 indirect jobs will be created which is hugely welcome.

"This project will convert waste plastic into useful by-products. I'm very pleased that the plant is up and running and that even greater expansion plans are afoot. This plant will create much needed jobs in the locality."

Commercial production commenced at the Lanespark plant in June of this year, and now agreements have been reached with Shell Chemicals Europe to purchase all of Trifol’s ‘Pyrolysis’ oil, and further agreements have been made with the German giant H&R (Hansen und Rosenthal) to purchase Trifol’s sustainable wax, which is also produced in the pyrolysis production.

The company received capital support from the EU LIFE Programme and the Irish Government’s Climate Action Fund.
