Horror show for Nenagh actress

Nenagh actress Carolyn Bracken has a top role in new horror film ‘Oddity’, now showing in Irish cinemas.

Carolyn plays the part of psychiatrist's wife Dani, who is brutally murdered while renovating the couple's newly acquired country house. A year later, her twin sister Darcy, a blind clairvoyant with psychometric powers, tries to unearth what happened to her sister. A wooden mannequin from her cabinet of curiosities becomes crucial to her quest to uncover the truth about Dani's murder.

An Irish horror film written and directed by Damian McCarthy, ‘Oddity’ is the latest screen appearance for Carolyn, who previously played a central role ‘The Gone’, a six-part thriller set in New Zealand.

First taking to the stage as a child with the Nenagh Players, Carolyn comes from a local family steeped in the arts. She is a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting. Her recent film work includes the award-winning ‘You Are Not My Mother’ and Oscar-nominated ‘An Cailín Ciúin’.

Carolyn's recent TV work of note includes ‘Balor Hall’, ‘Dublin Murders’ and ‘Smother’. She also appeared in hit series ‘Line of Duty’ and ‘The Fall’.

Shot in Cork, ‘Oddity’ premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh last summer. It was released to cinemas in Ireland and the UK on August 30 and has been attracting some very positive reviews since.
