‘Countryside Dreams’ exhibition to show in Nenagh Arts Centre

Nenagh Arts Centre will soon be home to a new exhibition by local artist Giulia Coli, who is set to present ‘Countryside Dreams: a Painter's Journey from Dublin to Nenagh’. The exhibition will open on October 3, running until November 1, and promises to offer visitors a unique visual exploration of both urban and rural Ireland.

This marks Giulia’s second solo exhibition, following the success of her first, ‘Springtime: A New Beginning’, which was held at the Middle Country Café in Cloughjordan. Reflecting on her journey as an artist, Giulia said that this new exhibition comes with exciting new challenges and opportunities for creative growth.

Giulia said: “The idea behind ‘Countryside Dreams’ is to immerse visitors in two contrasting worlds - the bustling city life of Dublin, where I lived during the lockdown, and the peaceful, tradition-rich countryside that I discovered while travelling around Ireland before settling in Nenagh,” Giulia explained. The collection will feature 13 large-scale paintings, a first for the artist. “With the help of the art director, we decided to push boundaries and showcase my largest works yet. The challenge was not only in creating them but also in selecting the right scenes to paint.”

The exhibition will feature scenes of Dublin’s vibrant streets, juxtaposed with the natural beauty and charm of Ireland’s rural landscapes, including iconic locations such as Downpatrick Head and Muckross Abbey. Additionally, the exhibition will include a special painting dedicated to Nenagh itself. Titled “Nenagh in White”, it captures a memorable moment from Giulia’s first winter in the town, when she experienced her first snowfall just a month after moving to the area.

“This exhibition is very close to my heart, as it marks a new chapter in my life and artistic journey. I wanted to reflect not only the beauty of Ireland but also the emotional connection I’ve built with this place,” said Giulia.

The public is warmly invited to attend the opening night of the exhibition on October 3 from 6 to 8pm at Nenagh Arts Centre.
