Bugler to stand in election

Fine Gael selection event held in Templemore

Ballina councillor Phyll Bugler has been selected to stand for Fine Gael in the Tipperary North constituency.

“I'm delighted to have been selected to contest the upcoming general election on behalf of Fine Gael,” Cllr Bugler stated following a party convention in Templemore last Friday week.

“There was great energy in a packed hall in the Templemore Arms Hotel and I was delighted to meet all the Fine Gael members from this new constituency of North Tipperary and West Kilkenny. It will be a difficult battle ahead but, as the only Fine Gael candidate, I'm up for the challenge,” said Cllr Bugler.

“I'm aware of the many local issues within the constituency and look forward to raising them in Dáil Éireann. I will do my utmost to deliver a seat for Fine Gael with the help of the people from the constituency of North Tipperary and West Kilkenny.”

Last Friday's party convention was chaired by former Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Simon Coveney.

Fine Gael has now chosen 48 General Election candidates in 31 constituencies.

Cllr Bugler added: “Having served as a councillor for over 20 years, and Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, I have demonstrated that I possess the experience and capabilities to be an effective representative.

“I want to continue to work on behalf of the people of Tipperary North as part of the Taoiseach’s team, to deliver for the people working and living here, farming and raising families, and I am confident in my ability to do just that.”
