The launch event took place at a training workshop on digital marketing for new businesses in the NTDC premises on Kickham Street in Thurles.

Building vibrant and inclusive communities

The Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) is delighted to announce the celebration of Local Development Week, which began on Monday, September 23, and runs until this Friday, September 27. This weeklong celebration will highlight the vital role Local Development Companies (LDCs) play in building vibrant, inclusive and sustainable communities throughout Ireland.

North Tipperary Development Company

Michael Murray, CEO of North Tipperary Development Company (NTDC) states: “NTDC, as a member of the national network will host events, workshops and training programmes across the north of the county to showcase their unique contributions to their communities. These will include a training workshop on the importance of digital marketing for new businesses and to help new business owners develop the tools and skills needed to promote their business online through images and video, a training programme for the Nenagh Traveller Primary Care Team, a self-care group in supporting older persons in the community, a work-related training programme in supporting long term unemployed and people with disabilities in gaining accreditation to progress into employment opportunities.”

Monica McElvaney, Chairperson of NTDC, outlines other activities taking place. She added: “These include targeted fitness sessions for older people in supporting age-related ailments and medical conditions, an Integrated Interest based group in combatting social isolation and integrated literacy supports provision, a self-care group in supporting the Traveller community with combatting social integration and mental health issues, and an Integration and intergenerational Project in collaboration with Age Friendly Roscrea.”

NTDC are a local development company and provide programmes in childcare/creches, youth services, training, job supports, community development services including SICAP, enterprise supports and grants, counselling and family supports, health and wellbeing supports, the Ascend domestic abuse service, older person services, social enterprise, rural development including LEADER, meals on wheels and new arrivals services. The Company has its main offices in Nenagh, Thurles and Roscrea and delivers outreach support across North Tipperary.

NTDC are supported in their work by Tipperary County Council, members of the Tipperary LCDC, DRCD, Tusla, HSE, DSP, TETB, Department of Justice, SEAI, DCEDIY and other funders. These agencies support in ensuring that resources were made available to support the communities of North Tipperary during 2024.
