Artist Bernice Cooke

Portumna artist’s new exhibition

Galway-based artist Bernice Cooke is set to unveil her latest exhibition, Stone Tape II - The Westmeath Tale, at Portumna Castle Courtyard Gallery from now to November 3. This new collection features 22 intricate watercolour and pen paintings with three pieces already sold ahead of the exhibition.

Bernice’s artwork focuses on breathing life back into historical buildings, capturing their stories and architecture on canvas. Her paintings revive forgotten or transformed structures, showcasing their unique character and significance. The exhibition includes iconic Westmeath locations such as Athlone Castle and Sean’s Bar, brought to life in Bernice’s detailed and vibrant style.

Following the success of her first solo show at Portumna Castle two years ago, this exhibition continues Bernice’s passion for documenting Ireland's architectural heritage. The public is invited to meet Bernice at the gallery on Saturday, October 12, from 2pm, where she will be available to discuss her work, inspirations, and the history behind the featured buildings.
