Distinguished gentlemen on a fundraising drive in Lower Ormond!

By Brendan Murphy

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive, Nenagh, took place on Sunday, September 29. This is the second year that the event has taken place in Nenagh, led by local man Samuel McKeever.

The drive was originally founded in 2021 and is an on-road motoring event uniting classic cars built 40 years or older. It is designed to encourage enthusiasts and vintage car owners around the world to dress dapper and drive for men’s health.

The money raised from the event goes directly to the event’s charity partner Movember, where the funds are invested in vital research and programmes for prostate cancer and men’s mental health to support the wellbeing of men all around the world.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is a themed event, where drivers and passengers dress dapper to complement the elegant design of their vehicles.

The event has taken place in over 40 countries around the world, with the Nenagh event proudly representing Ireland.

A total of nine drivers signed up to take part in the Nenagh event, but due to the bad weather just four drivers togged out and battled the elements to rescue the event and fly the flag for the all-important drive, which is in aid of such a worthy cause.

TERRYGLASS START

The event set off from Terryglass at 2pm from where the drivers travelled in convoy towards Lorrha, and then on through Birr, Shinrone, Cloughjordan and onwards to where they finally finished up in Borrisokane at approximately 4pm.

A great day was had by all drivers, who collectively raised over €2,000 for the event charity - not a bad day’s work at all! This money will go towards vital prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.

On behalf of the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Drive, Nenagh, we would like to thank everyone who supported and donated towards this event; we really appreciate it.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
