Blood donation clinics in Tipp

Irish Blood Transfusion Service recently issued a pre-amber alert to Irish Hospitals and the public is urged to support donation clinics in Thurles next week.

The clinics take place in The Dome, Semple Stadium next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 29-31 from 4.50 - 8.10pm. New donors welcome. Please phone 1800 222 111 for appointment

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is urgently seeking an additional 2,000 blood donations over the next four weeks to support the national blood supply as most blood groups have fallen to under three days of stock. “The IBTS aims to have seven days supply, but current levels including O negative, A negative and B negative are under three days supply and O positive (at nearly half the population) is very low at 3.5 days,” said Paul McKinney, Director of Donor Services and Logistics.
