Junior 'C' Hurling Championship: Congratulations to Ballina who claimed the North Junior 'C' Hurling title last Saturday in Toomevara after a 0-20 to 2-9 final victory over Silvermines. See match report.

Under 21 'A' Hurling Championship: commenced last weekend.

On Saturday, Nenagh Eire Og had a 1-22 to 2-15 victory over Roscrea in their Group 2 game.

Eire Og held the half time lead, 0-12 to 2-4, with Conor & Sam Dooley scoring the Roscrea goals. Sam O'Farrell found the back of the net for Eire Og from the penalty spot early into the second half as the home side held out for victory.

In the second game in Group 2, Silvermines had a 3-11 to 0-10 win over Kiladangan in Dolla.

Kiladangan held a 0-6 to 0-4 lead at half time after playing with the advantage of wind in the first half. Kiladangan maintained their lead until the 45th minute when a well finished Sean Nolan goal gave the 'Mines the lead. Conor McKelvey followed up with two goals in the 49th & 54th minutes as the ‘Mines secured victory.

In Group 1, Ballina had a 1-15 to 2-9 victory away to Borris-Ileigh.

The wind dictated proceedings as Borris had the advantage in the first half as they held a 2-8 to 0-5 half time lead. Ballina chipped away at the lead throughout the second half and the all-important score of the game came deep into injury time with a Ballina goal which was followed up with a Ballina point to give the Shannonsiders a three point victory.

Toomevara received a round 1 bye in this group.

Round 2 games will take place this Sunday, 27th October at 12 noon. In Group 1, Kiladangan host Nenagh Eire Og in Puckane whilst Roscrea host Silvermines. In Group 2, Ballina host Toomevara whilst Borris-Ileigh have a bye.

Under 21 'B' Hurling Championships: All of the Under 21 'B' games took place last Sunday.

In Group 1, Moneygall/Clonakenny had a 2-11 to 0-12 victory over Newport. Newport held a 0-10 to 2-2 half time lead.

In the second game in the group, Ballinahinch/Templederry had a 2-16 to 1-14 victory over Borrisokane.

In Group 2, Donnacha O’Meara’s injury time goal insured Lorrha Rovers a share of the spoils when they drew 1-13 to 2-10 with Portroe in Portroe on Sunday.

Approaching half time, Port scored two goals by Mattie Madden and Oisin O’Connor for a 2-7 to 0-7 half time lead. By the 50th minute the two goals still separated the teams before Lorrha Rovers dominated the closing stages with an unanswered 1-3, the three points from placed balls by Conor Kennedy who also had a hand in creating the levelling goal after he lobbed a free into the edge of the small square before O’Meara got the finishing touch to draw.

In the second game, Kilruane MacDonaghs had a 2-13 to 1-15 victory over Burgess.

Kilruane had two goals scored within the first ten minutes through Michael Cleary and Paul Dwyer. Joe O'Dwyer found the back of the net for Burgess in the 24th minute as they trailed at half time, 2-9 to 1-8. The second half was tit for tat throughout as the sides traded scores and were level on numerous occasions. A pointed free from Michael Cleary two minutes into injury time was the winning of the game for Kilruane.

Round 2 games will take place this weekend. On Saturday at 12 noon, Borrisokane will host Moneygall/Clonakenny. The remaining games take place on Sunday at 12 noon. Ballinahinch/Templederry host Newport in Templederry, Burgess host Portroe in Kilcolman whilst Lorrha Rovers host Kilruane MacDonaghs in Lorrha.

County Action: Congratulations to Newport who claimed the County U15 'A' Hurling title last Saturday after they defeated Cashel King Cormacs. This completed a great week for the U15 hurlers of Newport after their second team claimed the County 'C' (2nd teams) title after they defeated St Mary’s in the final.

Congratulations to Kiladangan who claimed the County Junior 'A' Football title last Saturday after they defeated Knockavilla Kickhams in the final.

Best of luck to Silvermines who face Cappawhite this Saturday, 26th October at 3.30pm in Kilcommon in the County Junior 'B' Hurling Final.
