Appeal over Ballina houses
An Bord Pleanála is to decide the fate of a controversial housing development planned for Ballina.
Lough Derg Marina Ltd recently received conditional permission consequent on a grant of outline permission for 13 dwelling units at Lakeview, Cullenagh. A substantial area of public parkland is included in the plan, together with associated site works.
Tipperary Co Council received 14 submissions from local residents, in which a series of concerns were raised. These ranged from the presence of Japanese Knotweed at the site, to the size and style of the proposed houses, visual impact on the shore of Lough Derg, and traffic hazard.
Several residents have now appealed the council's decision to grant permission to An Bord Pleanála. The case is to be decided on by February 6.
