Promoting shopping in the towns of Tipperary

Nenagh & District Chamber of Commerce has launched the new ‘Love Tipperary’ Gift Card in conjunction with Tipperary Chamber of Commerce for the purposes of promoting shopping in our fantastic towns throughout the county, thus supporting local businesses.

Chamber members will be calling around to all businesses in the Nenagh area over the next fortnight with the view to asking proprietors to sign up to this Love Tipperary Gift Card initiative.

Also, any businesses interested in purchasing these for staff members for Christmas please email: nenaghchamber@gmail.com

Meanwhile, a call that Tipperary County Council once again get behind the campaign to encourage people to shop local was made by Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh at the October meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District.

She said her home town, Nenagh, was a fantastic shopping venue and urged people to give shopowners a much-needed boost by doing their business in the town in the run-up to Christmas.

Cllr Joe Hannigan supported, urging local shop owners and shoppers to buy into the recently introduced Love Tipperary Gift Card scheme that, he said, was a great way of promoting the shop local concept.

Cllr Seamie Morris said the gift card scheme promoted by Tipperary Chamber of Commerce and Nenagh Chamber of Commerce was a great initiative. He suggested the promoters get some high-profile athlete like the Newport Olympian Sharlene Mawdsley to promote the scheme on social media.

District Administrator Rosemary Joyce said she would suggest such a promotion when she spoke to members of the Nenagh chamber.
