Tipperary GAA launches Winter/Spring development programme

Tipperary GAA Coaching & Games Development recently launched their upcoming Winter/Spring Athletic Development programme for the 2025 season.

Players and parents got a full overview of the exciting plans, encompassing 193 players across four gym location venues at: Ferryhouse Clonmel, Cahir Community College, The Ball Ally Gym, Thurles, and Cistercian College, Roscrea.

County Coaching & Games Development manager Kevin Halley, outlined the expansion of the development programme from three gyms to four, ensuring it keeps as many young emerging players in the high performance environment for as long as possible, with high-quality trained coaches, ensuring our emerging players are given the best possible start on their journey along the academy pathway in Tipperary, at under 14/15/16 age cohort in both hurling and football.

Jimmy Minogue, Chairperson of Tipperary County Board launched the Winter program and spoke of the counties desire to invest in the future of Tipperary players, by ensuring it has a well organised and structured development initiatives in our county, along with being feasible and accessible to parents and players.

“We want as a county to ensure GAA player development fits into family life, having Academy hubs closer, will help in that regard,” he said.

The Tipperary underage High-Performance Athletic Development program is in collaboration with Setanta College with lead programme facilitators Rob Mulcahy and Eanna Shalvey strategically guiding and progressing the overall development journey.

John McCormack is the Head Coach and is ably assisted by another eight coaches working on the ground across the four gym locations.

Tipperary Coaching & Games Development staff manage the overall programme, which also includes nutritional advice, psychological focus training along will other areas that develop good people transitioning in to really good players, as they progress along the pathway.
