CCR comes together for Team Hope
The Christmas Shoebox Appeal at Cistercian College Roscrea was first introduced to the school three years ago by International Student Co-ordinator, Ms Sarah Brislane. Each year the students, staff, parents and extended Cistercian College community work together to fill Christmas shoeboxes for Team Hope.
Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign that delivers gifts straight into the hands of children affected by poverty.
Often these shoebox gifts are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they bring is incredible. Since 2010, they have delivered over 2.5 million shoebox gifts to vulnerable children across the world.
worked together
This year Ms Brislane and the Third Year students worked together to collect, put together and wrap shoeboxes for this year’s campaign. Bringing the shoebox campaign to life would not be possible without the support of the extended community.
special thanks
A special word of thanks to Solemates in Nenagh, and The Shoe Corner in both Nenagh and Roscrea for their donations of shoeboxes.
A special mention to Ms Florrie Purcell from The Scullery who donated a range of toys and supplies for the shoeboxes.
An event was held in the college last week, which brought the staff, students and members of the Monastic Community together to complete the packing of the shoeboxes. There are now almost over 100 Christmas shoeboxes completed and on display in the college ready for collection by Team Hope.
Ms Brislane said: “This is my third year doing the Christmas Shoebox Appeal in the College. We will have over 100 boxes filled for vulnerable children by the end of the week. That is not just bringing hope to 100 children this Christmas, but to 100 households.”
