Scarey celebrations in Roscrea

Fireworks and disco prove popular

Roscrea Halloween Committee members Claire O’Meara along with Councillor Shane Lee were once again overwhelmed with the support and success of this year’s festival.

It started with decorating of Market Square with lots of spooky decorations, which created lots of memories for locals and people from outside of town. It was great to see so many photographs and videos circulating on social media platforms over the course of Halloween.

We also had help from Kailum, Kyle and Ella O’Meara along with Kelly O’Riordan, Emily Lee, Faye Lee and Darcie Moloney - all were very supportive and passionate about our event this year, thank you. Next up was the Fireworks display - in the seven years of running this event we were told by those who truly enjoyed the fireworks that it was the best display to date. Huge crowds gathered at every corner of town to witness this wonderful display of fireworks, it’s heartwarming and very encouraging when we see the attraction this brings to our very unique town on this night. What’s also very encouraging is getting reports back from our local businesses on how they benefit from the crowds on this night.

We finished off on Halloween night with a disco/fancy dress at the Roscrea Youth Club. Fantastic night was had, great music, lots of moves along with lots of memories for the smallies. Lots of efforts went in to kids to see them all dressed up in their lovely costumes making it very hard for the judge to pick our six winners on the night. The following we would like to thank:

Roscrea Youth Centre for the use of the hall; Tipperary County Council for funding; Coláiste Phobal and Tipperary ETB for the use of the field; Katie, Sarah and Rosemary Dynan for helping us with the disco along with Kieran O’ Meara, Paul O’Dwyer for the disco; Roscrea gardaí; PJ Wright for photos and Soleil Takeaway.
